Basic Attention Token (BAT), which is the base currency of the Brave browser, appeared on the market at the end of 2017, when the entire cryptocurrency market was rapidly approaching new historical highs. During this time, the BAT started from about 0.13 dollars per token to 1 dollar at the beginning of 2018. Throughout the year of the bear market in 2018, the BAT fell to 0.11 dollars. At the time of this writing, the BAT is trading at around $ 0.20 and is ranked 25th. a place with a total market capitalization of $ 243 million.

The Brave browser is different in that it allows users to use the built-in ad blocker or to allow viewing of ads in exchange for receiving rewards in the cryptocurrency Basic Attention Token (BAT). Brave launched its ad-block browser in 2016, but found it difficult to compete with more popular services such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Tor.
At the end of 2017, when it was announced that Brave would release the first round of BAT awards for a total of 300,000, and then release another 1 million dollars in BAT in January 2018. This aroused the interest of many new users, especially those who invested and are interested in cryptocurrency. Many users at that time were ready to try the browser in the hope of receiving passive rewards just for browsing the web.

On March 8, 2019, Brave announced a move to the second phase of browser and BAT integration. At the first stage, users received BAT, which could not be exchanged for bitcoins or US dollars, but could only be donated to the development of the project and the creation of content. The second stage promises to change everything and this inspires the devotees of the project. Currently, viewing reward ads in BAT is not yet enabled, but the browser displays this feature as “coming soon”.
Criticism of the browser from a technical point of view was mostly positive, most users are satisfied with the speed of viewing and the effectiveness of the ad blocker for those who use this feature.
